Silent Auction – Art from Around the World – to fund new scholarship

Friends of the Library invites you to browse the collection of art from around the world in the library. Susan Stark, a Coronado local and world traveler, has donated her art collection to Friends of the Library, and the items are available to purchase through a silent auction open until the last Friday of March. All items are displayed in the glass case near the library’s reference desk. Each item is numbered and has a corresponding bid sheet. The collectibles are going fast, so be sure to stop by and put in your bid today!

Susan Stark’s art and collectible items – known as Susan’s Treasures – are featured in the silent auction, with the proceeds establishing the Susan Stark Scholarship to be annually awarded to a graduating senior whose love of travel, art, family and reading parallels that of Susan Stark.
Susan Stark was a volunteer for Second Hand Prose from 2008 until her death in September 2015. A Coronado High School graduate, class of 1969, Susan loved to travel, was devoted to her family, was an avid reader, and an art lover whose extensive collection has been donated to the Coronado Public Library.
The Susan Stark Treasures Silent Auction runs from Saturday, March 5 to Friday, March 25, 2016. Please consult the bid book on the podium to the left of the display case to bid on an item.
Items will be available to pick up on Saturday, March 26 and Monday, March 28, 2016, between 1pm and 5pm at Second Hand Prose Bookstore (behind the library).
Payment is cash or check made out to Friends of the Coronado Public Library.
