Grocer Debuts New Item in Coronado
LOS ANGELES – March 4, 2016 – Smart & Final, the value-oriented food and everyday staples retailer for household and business customers, announced today that sushi is now available in its new Smart & Final Extra! store in Coronado. The grocer opened the store last month at 150 B Ave. and promised that sushi, a local favorite, would be forthcoming. Now, it is here.
A sushi chef will be on site daily to prepare fresh, restaurant-quality sushi from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“This is a Smart & Final first,” said Smart & Final President and CEO Dave Hirz.
“We are constantly evolving based on customer feedback and one of the items we found was a favorite in Coronado was sushi. So we are debuting sushi in Coronado and have plans to offer sushi in other select locations,” Hirz said.
Shoppers can select from a variety of options including New York Crunch Roll (crab salad, avocado and cucumber topped with crab stick, spicy mayo, sushi sauce and fried onion); Snow Fox #9 (imitation crab salad, avocado, cucumber, cream cheese, and jalapeno topped with spicy mayo, sushi sauce, fried onions and sriracha); and Dynamite Roll (spicy tuna roll covered with spicy crab salad and topped with sriracha hot sauce and a dash of shichimi, a blend of Japanese herbs and spices).
The new store is 25,540 square feet in size. In comparison to traditional Smart & Final stores, Smart & Final Extra! stores offer shoppers expanded frozen, deli and meat selections, a full fresh produce section, organic and natural food products, more high-quality perishables, a wide selection of private label offerings and products offered in a broad range of sizes.
Additionally, the new store includes unique products such as oven-roasted chicken, self-serve dry bulk goods by the pound and baked goods from a hot, on-site bakery.
The Smart & Final Extra! format provides a one-stop shopping experience where businesses and organizations, as well as households, can purchase grocery and everyday staple needs while also stocking up on thousands of club-size products, all without a membership fee.
