Camp Wamp is a special place where children with physical disabilities truly learn that “it is about what you do!” Each summer children from across America come to Camp Wamp to spend time in nature, play, learn, and grow in ways that can’t be put into words. They do arts and crafts, STEAM projects, swim, hike, canoe/kayak, participate in a talent show, have dance parties and so much more. The memories made at Camp Wamp will last a lifetime and provide them with skills to prepare them for the future. Camp Wamp welcomes all kids between 10 and 18 that have a physical disability of any kind.
The Wampler Foundation raises money so that finances are never a barrier that would prevent sending a child to camp. All parents/guardians need to do is to say that paying for the camp is a hardship, and there are no further questions asked.
This summer Camp Wamp is expecting 120 campers. In an effort to ensure that every family who wants to send their child can send their child, they are introducing Project 120.
Project 120 allows anyone to give back by donating to a specific fund or providing a full sponsorship for a camper. Giving the gift of camp is a life changing gift. You will be giving these children the confidence, understanding and life skills needed to transform their lives and achieve goals they have set.
Camp Wamp is a wilderness sleep-away camp near Lake Tahoe for children with physical disabilities. The camp was founded by Coronado resident Steve Wampler, who has cerebral palsy and uses an electric wheelchair to get around. Since 2002, campers have had the time of their lives at Camp Wamp. They sleep under the stars, hike with their counselors on their backs, canoe, swim, participate in skits and dances, sing, and enjoy themselves as never before.
To make a donation towards Project 120 and summer 2019, visit the Wampler Foundation website and choose your level. Some examples are $10 for a s’mores fund, $25 for fishing supplies, $500 towards medical supplies, or $3500 to send one child to camp for one week (and other options in between).
