Eveleen Coker – 5th Grade Teacher
Mrs. Coker is excited to return to a full time teaching position at Village Elementary School. While she has enjoyed her time as an Academic Support and Enrichment (ASE) teacher at Silver Strand Elementary for the past year and a half, it will be a “coming home” of sorts for her, returning to the school where her career began in 1993. Teaching fifth grade will be an exiting change after teaching both third and fourth for the majority of her career. Eveleen is looking forward to being a part of a strong team of educational professionals as we move forward into the Common Core state standards and 21st Century teaching and learning. It will be her pleasure to continue to serve the Coronado community where she was born and raised! She eagerly anticipates the start of a new school year and will have her three children attending Village Elementary as well! WELCOME BACK HOME, EVELEEN!

We welcome Mr. Wamhoff to Village Elementary! He has worked in the Coronado Unified School District for two years as a substitute both within the special education classrooms and in the physical education departments. He is excited and ready to work side by side with our amazing PE team and our new PE teacher! In his spare time, Ryan enjoys surfing and continuing my pursuit with a career as a firefighter/paramedic. We are glad he is here!
Joseph Oliveira – Physical Education Teacher
Joe Oliveira was born and raised here in San Diego. He grew up very active in sports, playing just about everything. He decided to focus on baseball and basketball at University City High School. He received the student athlete of the year award his senior year and also accepted a baseball scholarship to the University of the Pacific. He would go on to receive his bachelor’s degree in communication and his master’s degree in education with his credential in PE, while being a 3 time all-conference selection player and team captain of the baseball team. He was then drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 15th round of the 2010 draft and played 3 seasons of professional baseball. He assists the University of San Diego baseball team and also gives private lessons when he is not teaching. We are excited to have him joining our Village Elementary family!

Sarah Hunsaker was hired in April to be a 3rd grade teacher
Sarah is excited to be returning to Village as a third grade teacher this year. She graduated from the University of San Diego with a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and later returned to school earning her teaching credential and Master’s in Cross Cultural Education. This is her sixth year with the Coronado Unified School District and she has experience teaching across the grade levels and school sites. Sarah is an avid reader, hiker and traveler who appreciates other cultures. She grew up with a family of educators who have a passion for learning and was lucky to have several teachers who felt the same. This passion was instilled in her and is one of the reasons she chose to go into the field of education. Sarah is dedicated to ensuring successful educational experiences for all students and being a productive member of the Village Elementary team.
