SUMMARY:Professional Bowls Association–USA qualifying tournaments
DESCRIPTION:The Coronado Lawn Bowling Club (CLBC) is set to host the Professional Bowls Association–USA (PBA-USA) qualifying tournaments for the prestigious Bowls World Tour. \nThe tournaments will take place May 15–18 at the historic John D. Spreckels Bowling Green\, showcasing some of the sport’s most skilled and accomplished players. Competitors will vie for the opportunity to advance to internationally recognized Bowls World Tour events including the Scottish International Open\, the World Indoor Bowls Championships\, and the UK Open. \nFounded in 1997\, the Professional Bowls Association (PBA) is a global organization with branches in the United States\, Canada\, Australia\, New Zealand\, Hong Kong\, Israel\, South Africa\, and the United Kingdom. Through its qualifying events\, the PBA provides elite bowlers the chance to compete in their home countries for spots in premier international competitions. \nThis is a rare opportunity for Coronado residents to experience high-level lawn bowling in person. Spectators are invited to attend the qualifying tournaments throughout the four-day event at the John D. Spreckels Center & Bowling Green\, located at 1019 7th Street. \nAdmission is free and open to the public. Everyone is encouraged to stop by at any time during the day to watch top-tier competitions and learn more about the sport. Members of the CLBC will be on hand to answer questions and provide insight into the game. Renowned Coronado International Player Angel Gomez competes on Sunday\, May 17. \nAngel Gomez

DESCRIPTION:The Coronado Lawn Bowling Club (CLBC) invites the community to a special evening on May 21 celebrating the rich history\, spirit\, and legacy of lawn bowling in Coronado\, at the premiere of the short documentary “Celebrating 90 Years of Lawn Bowling in Coronado.” \nProduced for CLBC by One on One Productions\, the film weaves together player interviews\, archival and contemporary photography\, and video footage to tell the story of the local club and its place in the tapestry of this globally played sport. \nTwenty-nine-time Emmy Award–winning writer\, producer\, and narrator Jane Mitchell — a Coronado native — brings a personal and engaging perspective to this story of recreation\, community connection\, and achievement. \nThis free community event will be held on May 21 from 6 to 9 p.m. at John D. Spreckels Center & Bowling Green\, 1019 7th St. The evening will feature two screenings of the 22-minute film\, along with live demonstrations of lawn bowling and opportunities for attendees to try the sport themselves. A taco bar will be provided for refreshments. \nWalk-ins are welcome; however\, space and refreshments are limited. Advance registration is strongly encouraged.
