The sequel follows up with the Laramie\, Wyoming\, community after the brutal murder of gay University of Wyoming student\, Matthew Shepard\, on October 7\, 1998. \nMoises Kaufman and members of the Tectonic Theatre Company traveled to Laramie after the tragedy and conducted interviews with the people of the town. These interviews became the 1999 play\, The Laramie Project. Ten years later\, the company returned to Laramie to try to understand the long-term effect of the murder and found a town wrestling with its legacy and its place in history. \n“Even though these events took place decades ago\, the subject matter has lost none of its relevance and explores a new chapter of the story of Laramie\, Wyoming\,” according to director Kim Strassburger\, of CoSA’s award-winning Musical Theatre & Drama conservatory\, “It asks the fundamental question\, ‘How does society write its own history?’” \nCoronado Performing Arts Center Main Stage Theatre located at 650 D Avenue\, is the venue for this haunting and eye-opening account with performances June 2-4 (7pm) and June 5 (2pm).Tickets can be purchased at the box office prior to performance or at www.cosafoundation.org. \nCoronado School of the Arts (CoSA) is a premier public school arts conservatory\, home to 200 scholar artists grades 9 through 12\, who attend the nationally ranked Coronado High School. DESCRIPTION:Learn the Ukrainian art of Pysanka Egg Decorating in this hands-on class from instructor Adriana Wrzesniewski. You’ll create one pysanka egg from start to finish. \nAll pysanky are created the same way\, but the designs and colors vary from egg to egg. All designs are an accumulation of ancient symbols and current motifs arranged in different patterns and differing color schemes. Each pysanka is an individual piece of art work\, since no two eggs are exactly alike. Originally the eggs were kept full to keep the mystical powers intact. Today\, most eggs are emptied and clean to eliminate any worries about smell or broken eggs. The designs are the most important for the well-wishing gifts. Pysanky can be displayed in a multitude of ways from grouping on a plate\, in a bowl or clear vase\, individually in stands\, candle or boiled-egg holders\, and even hanging with embroidery floss and tassles. Pysanky were often placed in the corners of the home and in the thatched roofs to ward off fire\, lightning and high winds. Broken pysanka shells are sprinkled into the soil to ensure healthy crops. \nThe class will last 2.5 hours and all materials will be provided. Space is limited. Registration is recommended.
