Doors will open 15 minutes prior to each performance. \nClosing out our Summer Festival is vocalist Joe Bourne presenting Great Gentlemen of Swing Blues and Pop. The repertoire will be a range of music from Lou Rawls\, Frank Sinatra and Friends\, Al Jarreau\, Nat King Cole\, Johnny Mathis\, Perry Como\, Louis Armstrong and a taste of Motown. \nBorn in Cambridge\, Massachusetts\, Joe Bourne was inspired by many of the big names of jazz and popular music that toured the Boston area. Whether it’s a swinging rendition of the fun song “Goody Goody\,” Oscar Brown’s philosophical “Dat Dere\,” Errol Garner’s romantic ballad “Misty” or his special tribute to the great Nat King Cole\, Joe always captures the audience with his own style\, warm mellifluous jazz baritone voice\, and dynamic showmanship. Joe has shared the stage with Natalie Cole\, Ray Charles\, Nina Simone\, Dionne Warwick and several other jazz and popular music greats. \nOver the years Joe has received several prestigious awards such as The Diamond of the Year award presented by The Bund Botschafter Ohne Grenzen\, and the Kunstler des Jahres (Artist of the Year award)\, both for top-class entertainment in Germany. He has also been honored with the Silver Orpheus in Bulgaria and the Jimmy Kennedy award in Ireland\, both for his special presentation of Gershwin’s “Summertime.” \n

DESCRIPTION:Discover a new favorite spice or herb with the Coronado Public Library! Each month\, the library invites community members to explore different spices used in dishes around the world. Registrants will pick up the monthly spice/herb selection at the library\, cook with it\, and join other food enthusiasts to talk about what they made and their thoughts about the spice. The meeting will be held on Zoom on Friday\, August 26 at 2 pm. Once registered\, participants will receive instructions on how to pick up a spice packet for the Spice It Up\, Coronado program. DESCRIPTION:Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection is held the second and fourth Saturday of each month\, from 9 am to 2 pm at the Public Services Facility\, located at 101 B Avenue\, and is available to Coronado residents only. No business or contractor-generated waste is permitted. \nHousehold products containing toxic chemicals become hazardous waste when you decide to dispose of them. Never throw hazardous products in the trash\, as the toxic chemicals may harm the environment and sanitation workers\, and start fires in trash trucks. Never pour hazardous products into a sink or storm drain. It is dangerous and they will end up in our environment polluting the air\, water and soil. The City of Coronado’s HHW program is available so that all residents in the community can safely dispose of their toxic\, hazardous waste. \nMore details HERE.

The book tells the story of Naval Special Warfare Boat Units — from the Boat Support Units of the 1960s prowling the coast of North Vietnam and the waterways of the Mekong Delta to today’s Special Boat Teams in action around the world — with some background on maritime special operations since Colonial times. Published by the Combatant Craft Crewman Association\, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to preserving the history and honoring our veterans. \n
