Scheduled for 7:15 a.m. before the race\, the ceremony offers couples a heartfelt opportunity to reaffirm their love and commitment. Known for his joyous and emotional ceremonies\, Pastor Johnston’s leadership last year brought smiles\, laughter\, and touching moments to couples who renewed their vows. \nAdding even more fun to the day is the costume contest for individuals\, couples\, and groups. Participants are encouraged to get creative with their Valentine’s Day-themed attire for a chance to win prizes and showcase their festive spirit. \nTo embrace the Valentine’s spirit\, all participants can select a relationship status bib to wear\, featuring playful messages like ‘Available\,’ ‘Taken\,’ and ‘It’s Complicated.’ This matchmaking element brings a lighthearted touch\, and in previous years\, it’s even sparked real-life love stories among runners. \nParticipants will receive a long-sleeve tiki-themed sun protection tech shirt and a large\, heart-shaped medal featuring Michelangelo’s David reimagined as Cupid\, making the day both memorable and rewarding. \nThe event supports two impactful organizations: the Islander Sports Foundation\, which encourages youth participation in sports\, and the Life Sports Foundation\, dedicated to empowering young athletes and promoting healthy lifestyles. \nThe day kicks off with the 1-Mile Fun Run\, perfect for families\, followed by the 10K and 5K races.
