SUMMARY:Coronado Democratic Club Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Coronado Democratic Club to Host Investigative Journalist Lorie Hearn\, CCAT Team\, and InclusioNado Leaders at May Meeting\nThe Coronado Democratic Club invites the community to its upcoming general meeting on Saturday\, May 10\, at the Coronado Library’s Winn Room. The meeting will feature a dual program\, welcoming award-winning journalist Lorie Hearn\, founder of inewsource\, representatives from the Citizens Casualty Awareness Training (CCAT) team\, and a brief update on the important work of InclusioNado by Marely Ramirez and Nina Smart. \n\nLorie Hearn — A Nieman Fellow and former senior editor at The San Diego Union-Tribune\, Hearn will speak about the power of investigative journalism and the role of inewsource\, the nonprofit news organization she founded in 2009. Known for holding the powerful accountable\, inewsource integrates in-depth reporting with “community-powered” journalism — training and paying everyday residents to monitor public meetings and strengthen local civic engagement.\nCCAT (Citizens Casualty Awareness Training) — The second part of the meeting will provide a preview of CCAT’s lifesaving emergency training program. Attendees will learn practical ways to help in a crisis\, such as stopping severe bleeding\, using an AED\, and applying a tourniquet — tools anyone can use to help save lives while waiting for emergency responders.\nInclusioNado — Marely Ramirez and Nina Smart will provide a brief update on InclusioNado’s continued advocacy for diversity\, equity\, and inclusion in Coronado. Their work supports creating a more inclusive and informed community through education\, engagement\, and allyship.\n\nFor more information\, please visit CoronadoDemocrats.com or communications@coronadodemocrats.com
