SUMMARY:San Diego Shakespeare Society Presents: Shakespeare Authorship Forum
DESCRIPTION:For hundreds of years people have questioned whether William Shakespeare of Stratford-upon-Avon actually wrote the plays and sonnets credited under his name\, in view of his limited education and experience. Mark Twain\, Walt Whitman\, Sigmund Freud\, and Malcom X\, to name a few\, have expressed such doubts. \nThe audience will watch a 30-minute documentary\, “Last Will & Testament\,” which provides an overview of the question and viewpoints both from the so-called “Orthodox” school and from the doubters. The film will be followed by a discussion\, led by a moderator from the San Diego Shakespeare Society\, of all points of view on the topic. \nThe event will include a Zoom appearance by Cheryl Eagan-Donovan\, a noted documentary filmmaker\, who will argue in favor of a leading author candidate\, Edward de Vere\, Earl of Oxford\, a highly educated nobleman in the court of Queen Elizabeth\, who traveled extensively in Italy where so many of the plays take place. \nThis is a hybrid event\, meaning it will take place in-person\, but people can also watch and participate from elsewhere via Zoom. To do so\, please register using the link below\, and you will receive the Zoom link shortly before the event.  \nhttps://www.eventbrite.com/e/shakespeare-authorship-forum-in-person-coronado-library-and-via-zoom-tickets-338793700077?aff=odeimcmailchimp&mc_cid=0260f261e6&mc_eid=311eb1849a \n
