SUMMARY:Color Me Coronado
DESCRIPTION:A free coloring book give away event will take place at the Coronado Public Library and up to 100 free coloring book kits will be given away on Sunday\, May 22\, 1 pm to 2:30 pm at the front desk. First come\, first served while supplies last. \nMainly for children ages 5 to 10 and their caregivers\, a free “Color Me Coronado” Coloring Book and watercolor kit will be given out — sponsored by the Coronado Art Association\, celebrating its 75th Anniversary\, and the Coronado Library. \n \nIsland artist Connie Spitzer\, the creator of the coloring book\, donated the artwork for the limited edition of the free coloring book. The coloring book contains her paintings in full color of various public art installations around town\, as well as a few whimsical neighborhood scenes with the scene reproduced in black and white for the children to create their own beautiful paintings on the adjacent page. A water color pencil and brush set is provided for the children to paint their own works of art inside the book. \n  \n\nThe publication and materials costs of the coloring book is made possible in part by the generous support of the  Jim and Bette T. Sherman Fund\, the City of Coronado Cultural Arts Commission and the Coronado Community Foundation. \n

SUMMARY:Second Saturday Art Class for Kids!
DESCRIPTION:The Coronado Public Library offers an art class for kids on the second Saturday of each month. Children of all ages are welcome. Registration is not required.  \nSeptember: We will be using oil pastels on paper. \nAbout the instructor: \nAnna Gorman was born and raised in southeastern Wisconsin. Her love for the arts began in her early adolescent years and was nourished throughout adulthood. The inspiration for her creations comes from a love for the natural world as well as her passion for spirituality and the yogic arts. Her media include acrylics\, oils\, charcoal\, and graphite. \nWhen Anna isn’t creating art\, she is enriching the minds of the little ones as an early childcare teacher who graduated from San Diego State University. She also loves to teach art to children. Currently\, Anna is a graduate student at the University of California\, San Diego where she is studying to obtain her teaching credential in Elementary Education. She loves the sun\, surfing\, and being outdoors.

SUMMARY:CoSA Haunted House: Circus Clowns
DESCRIPTION:Everyone recognizes the familiar strains of a circus calliope—beckoning you into the colorful Big Top where thrills and chills await you. Step right up and into the dark tent that has come to Coronado High School this Halloween. Sneak beyond the curtains to unveil the horrors lurking within the shadows of the creepy circus and explore its deadly and destructive secrets. The talented students of Coronado School of the Arts (CoSA) have combined to present a haunted attraction from Wednesday\, October 26 to Saturday\, October 29. \nFrom 6 to 7pm\, the creepy carnival is safe for all ages\, but after 7pm\, a menagerie of monsters and sinister creatures await all those who step inside. This event includes flashing lights\, graphic imagery\, haze and loud noises.
