SUMMARY:Sound bath
DESCRIPTION:Experience the soothing vibrations that support your body’s natural ability to rest and restore. This gentle\, all-levels class uses crystal singing bowls\, chimes\, and therapeutic sound tools to help calm your nervous system and ease physical tension. Sound healing works by shifting your body into a deeply relaxed state — where natural healing and renewal can happen. The resonant frequencies encourage the release of stress\, support circulation\, and help soothe muscles and joints. Bring a yoga mat\, blanket\, and pillow for comfort. Chairs available for those who prefer a seated experience. Please arrive early as doors will close promptly at 12 p.m. to honor the peaceful space being created together.

SUMMARY:Awakening the Heart Through Mindfulness
DESCRIPTION:Awakening the Heart Through Mindfulness \nThis class taught by UCSD’s Jamie Pineda will be a neuroscience-inspired exploration into awakening the heart through mindfulness. Through lectures\, meditation exercises\, readings\, and small group discussions\, we get closer to a stress-free\, happier\, and healthier life. Perfect for beginners and experienced practitioners alike. Sessions begin weekly on Saturdays starting Oct 3.  Attend one class or all 5. \n\nClass 1: An Introduction to the Awakened Heart \nAnnelise Jolley\, journalist\, has said that “Only by looking at love from all angles—through the lenses of neuroscience and theology and art and anthropology and biology—can we begin to understand what it is and what it can do.” This class will explore this multidisciplinary perspective for a more complete ecology of what an awakened heart is\, one that allows us to hold and bear life’s pain and suffering gently. \n\nJaime Pineda is professor of neuroscience\, cognitive science\, and psychiatry at the University of California\, San Diego. He is the author of several books\, the latest being Controlling Mental Chaos: Harnessing the Power of the Creative Mind (Rowman & Littlefield\, 2023). He is a long-time contemplative practitioner and a certified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher (MMTCP\, 2025). He now dedicates his time sharing the insights he’s learned as a neuroscientist and mindfulness student.
