DESCRIPTION:Since time immemorial\, the Luiseño people have lived in relationship with the lands\, waters\, plants\, animals\, and places of our traditional territory. Our culture is not something of the past — it is living\, practiced\, taught\, and carried forward by each generation. \nLuiseño People & Traditions: Living Our Heritage invites visitors to learn about the history\, culture\, knowledge\, and continuing traditions of the Luiseño people. Through stories\, cultural materials\, artwork\, and traditional practices\, the exhibit highlights the enduring connections between Luiseño people and the land. \nThis exhibit honors Luiseños’ ancestors\, celebrates cultural knowledge\, and recognizes the generations who continue to live\, teach\, create\, and carry our heritage forward. The exhibit runs from Oct. 1 through Jan. 10\, 2027.

Explore how a collection of 1930s family photographs was restored and preserved\, transforming forgotten negatives into a vivid window into Coronado’s past. She has managed the Longmont Humane Society’s volunteer photography program for the past 15 years\, during which time she has photographed over 4\,000 animals\, accelerating their adoption in the local community. As someone who began her career in the pre-digital era\, she has an abiding interest in photo restoration\, digital archiving\, and historical preservation. In her free time\, you can usually find her browsing antique stores for old photographs\, hiking the beautiful Colorado trails\, reading\, or spending time with family. Marsha lives with her husband\, Ray Agostinelli\, a technology professional and creative writer\, in Boulder\, CO.

DESCRIPTION:Myths and Magic: Tales from the Edge of Reality \nCoronado School of the Arts (CoSA) Digital Arts department will host its annual Horror Nights production\, featuring this year’s theme: “Myths and Magic: Tales from the Edge of Reality.” This immersive\, mythological horror show will take place over two nights\, Tuesday\, Oct. 27 and Thursday\, Oct. 29\, inside the Black Box Theater at Coronado High School. Doors open each night at 6 p.m. \nHorror Nights\, now in its 17th year\, is a much-loved DigArts tradition. Since horror night occurs in October\, students are tasked with beginning their projects as soon as they start school. They begin with sketches and brainstorming\, then they storyboard\, film\, animate\, or begin to design in Illustrator or Photoshop in anticipation of their show. \nCourtesy photo: CoSA\nFilm and animation students will screen their original horror shorts and animations. Lining the venue\, custom-designed movie posters created by the film and animation students will offer a glimpse into their onscreen terrors. Meanwhile\, the graphic design students will display a gallery of horror-themed headshots featuring every student in the conservatory transformed to match the “Myths and Magic” theme\, alongside a collection of dark\, mythologically-inspired graphic design posters. \nThe event is recommended for middle school aged children or older. Concessions will be available for sale. Tickets are $10 for adults\, $5 for students\, staff\, seniors and military\, and are on sale now at www.cosasandiego.com\, or can be purchased prior to each performance.
