Or\, when you seemingly stumble upon the magical house from which the Wizard of Oz was born. \nWe’re proud to host you on Coronado’s premier walking tour. Every tour purchase supports the Coronado Historical Association and its mission. Thank you for your support. \nEvery Sunday at 11 am & Thursday at 1 pm\nLocation: Coronado Historical Association\,\n1100 Orange Ave\, Coronado\, CA 92118\nAdmission: Adults $20 | Children (12 & under) $5\nBUY TICKETS HERE\nTours are approximately 90 minutes and two miles at a comfortable pace. SUMMARY:Household Hazardous Waste Collection
DESCRIPTION:Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection is held the second and fourth Saturday of each month\, from 9 am to 2 pm at the Public Services Facility\, located at 101 B Avenue\, and is available to Coronado residents only. No business or contractor-generated waste is permitted. \nHousehold products containing toxic chemicals become hazardous waste when you decide to dispose of them. SUMMARY:Port Special Board Meeting on Central Embarcadero Redevelopment
DESCRIPTION:Figure 10 from https://pantheonstorage.blob.core.windows.net/waterfront-development/20211229-1HWY1-Seaport-San-Diego-Project-Description.pdf. Project Land-Side and Water-Side Uses \n\nAs part of ongoing public outreach efforts for the potential redevelopment of the Central Embarcadero\, the Port of San Diego invites the public to an upcoming special meeting at which the Board of Port Commissioners will further discuss\, receive\, and listen to public and stakeholder feedback regarding 1HWY1’s proposed Seaport San Diego project. \nThe special Board meeting is scheduled for 12 pm on Thursday\, July 21\, 2022\, and will take place in the Boardroom at the Port Administration Building at 3165 Pacific Highway in San Diego. The agenda\, along with information on how the public can participate in the meeting\, will be published here this week. \nThe Board of Port Commissioners selected the 1HWY1 development team after a competitive process in 2016. Since then\, 1HWY1 has been refining its proposed project in response to Board\, Port staff\, and stakeholder feedback\, due diligence findings\, and input from prospective partners. 1HWY1 is proposing a mixed-use development program that includes parks\, open spaces and plazas\, piers\, walkways\, beaches\, nature trails\, shared streets\, and public rooftop; hotels at various service levels and price points; an event center; a “Blue Tech Innovation Center” block made up of an aquarium\, blue tech office space\, and an observation tower; fish processing plant; parks\, restaurants\, retail\, and more. \nOn Tuesday\, March 8\, 2022\, during the Board of Port Commissioners’ regular monthly meeting\, Port staff and 1HWY1 presented a draft preliminary Seaport San Diego project description to the Board and the public. Port staff collected feedback from the Board\, the public\, and stakeholders and has worked with 1HWY1 on changes to the project description. As part of the July 21 Special Board Meeting\, Port staff and the 1HWY1 team will be presenting an updated draft preliminary project description to the Board for further feedback and direction to Port staff. The public and stakeholders may also provide comments on the project description at this time. \nThe Central Embarcadero is a prime site on the San Diego Bay waterfront and includes Seaport Village and surrounding areas between the Manchester Grand Hyatt and USS Midway. There are many steps to go with 1HWY1 before the Seaport San Diego project can move on to the construction phase\, including various future Board actions and approvals over the next several years related to items such as environmental review\, financing\, and leasing. \nThe Port appreciates the public’s interest and engagement as the due diligence\, design\, and the entitlement and permitting process for the proposed Seaport San Diego project continues. \nFor more information and to sign up to receive updates\, go to portofsandiego.org/centralembarcadero.

SUMMARY:Screening of "A Plastic Ocean"
DESCRIPTION:Join Emerald Keepers for a screening of an award-winning film in the Village Theater at 5:30pm. A Plastic Ocean explores the fragile state of our oceans and uncovers alarming truths about the consequences of our disposable lifestyle. The film documents the global effects of plastic pollution and highlights workable technologies and innovative solutions that everyone – from governments to individuals – can do\, to create a cleaner and greener ocean. \nPanel discussion immediately following. \nFor tickets\, click here. \n\nAll proceeds will be donated to Emerald Keepers! \n\n\n\n\n\nIn 2009\, a team of researchers traveled deep into the Pacific Ocean to study a solid mass of plastic. Instead\, they stumbled upon a soup of free-floating microplastics\, a discovery that shocked the team and defied all expectations. \nThe discovery prompted a four-year global odyssey and “deep dive” into the issue of plastics in our oceans\, and a search for the solutions that can save us. A Plastic Ocean is the telling of this team’s winding and courageous journey. \n\n \n

SUMMARY:Walking Tour of Historic Coronado
DESCRIPTION:One of the best ways to experience the history of Coronado is to go on a historic walking tour. This is the secret that Coronado locals know: it takes time to sense the past. When you slow down\, you have a chance to see\, hear\, and remember this place that Hollywood stars\, princes\, and presidents have enjoyed. Everywhere you look in this charming beach town\, you find history. And\, that history is easiest to see on foot – when you have a chance to linger in front of a tiny\, shingled house\, perhaps\, and meet the resident as he comes out into the yard to water his roses and tells you about the multiple generations who have lived in the home.
