She obtained a Bachelors degree in Art from SDSU and a Master’s degree in Fine Art (drawing and painting) from the Academy of Art University. She keeps very busy painting and teaching art classes. Joanie’s favorite subjects are the human figure and face\, and the ocean. She works in oil\, watercolor\, graphite\, ink\, and pastel. SUMMARY:FILM FORUM CORONADO: "Carnival of Souls"
DESCRIPTION:Coronado Public Library\, in partnership with the Coronado Island Film Festival\, presents FILM FORUM CORONADO\, taking place the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the library’s Winn Room. Film expert Ralph DeLauro provides a brief introduction to each film and leads a discussion afterwards\, often including pointers about how lighting or camera angles contribute to a scene’s mood or propel the story. \nSeptember 16: Carnival of Souls (1962\, PG\, 80 min) \n \nIngmar Bergman meets The Twilight Zone! Enter the dreamlike world of Carnival of Souls: eerie\, atmospheric and hugely influential. Intended to have the “look of Bergman and the feel of Cocteau\,” the film follows the sole survivor of a fatal accident as she finds herself becoming more disconnected from the world – being mysteriously drawn to an abandoned carnival pavilion and experiencing visions that blur the line between reality and the supernatural. Starring Candace Hilligos and Sidney Berger.
