DESCRIPTION:This Diwali\, join us for a hands-on craft workshop where we will paint and decorate beautiful Jharokha-style candle holders using sustainable materials\, led by Dipali Dewan of OTB Handmadecrafts. \nA Jharokha is a distinctive architectural feature of Indian palaces and havelis — an ornate overhanging window or balcony that allowed royalty to view festivities while remaining unseen. Beyond their practical use\, Jharokhas became a symbol of beauty\, artistry\, and craftsmanship in Indian culture. Their intricate designs often featured arches\, carvings\, and vibrant colors\, reflecting the grandeur of India’s architectural heritage. \nIn this workshop\, we will bring that same sense of tradition and artistry into our craft. Each participant will create their own candle holder inspired by the Jharokha design—perfect for celebrating the Festival of Lights. \nWhether you are new to Indian culture or simply enjoy exploring creative crafts\, this workshop is a wonderful way to experience the spirit of Diwali while making something beautiful to take home. \nAll materials will be provided. No prior art experience required — just bring your creativity! \nThis program is for adults over the age of 18. Space is limited\, registration is recommended. Walk-ins will be accommodated as space permits.

DESCRIPTION:Image: SideOut.org\nCommunity invited to wear pink\, enjoy tacos\, and rally for a cause Tuesday\, October 7. \nThe Coronado High School girls volleyball program will host its annual Dig Pink Night on Tuesday\, October 7\, to raise awareness and funds for the Side-Out Foundation\, which supports metastatic breast cancer research and clinical trials. \nThe Islanders have set a fundraising goal of $2\,500 this year and invite the Coronado community to get involved through several fun and meaningful ways: \n\n🌮 Tacos for a Cause: Enjoy three tacos and a drink for $12 ($13 with credit card). The goal is to sell 100 plates. Food will be served from 4 to 6pm.\n🛍️ Dig Pink Goodie Bags: Send a sweet surprise to a CHS player\, sibling\, or friend\, delivered during school on 10/7 — each order raises funds and spreads awareness.\n👚 Limited Edition Dig Pink Shirts: Available while supplies last\, with proceeds donated to the Side-Out Foundation.\n🧁 Pink Bake Sale: Players and families will host a bake sale featuring pink-themed treats\, with all proceeds going to charity.\n💖 Direct Donations: Supporters can donate directly through the team’s official Side-Out campaign page\, with many companies offering donation-matching programs that can double contributions.\n🏐 Attend the Match: All admission donations will go toward the team’s fundraising total.
