DESCRIPTION:The City’s Spring Bulky Curbside Trash Collection event will take place the week of May 12 to 16. Residents may place bulky items\, such as furniture\, mattresses\, broken appliances\, water heaters\, and other large household items\, curbside with their regular carts on their normal collection day. \nItems must be placed at the curb by 6 am on your scheduled service day. DESCRIPTION:Join thousands of riders across San Diego by biking to work\, school\, or anywhere in the region. Cyclists can stop by and pick up a free t-shirt and snacks at the City of Coronado’s pit stop between 6 and 9 am – near the Community Center\, on the Coronado promenade. \nBike Anywhere Day 2024 pit stop at Coronado Community Center (The Coronado Times)\nIn celebration of National Bike Month\, SANDAG invites the San Diego region to participate in Bike Anywhere Day from 6:30 to 9:30 am on Thursday\, May 15. SANDAG has hosted the annual biking event in the region for more than 30 years. Bike Anywhere Day aims to alleviate traffic and reduce air pollution while promoting biking as a fun\, sustainable\, and healthy transportation choice. \nBike Anywhere Day is a free event open to everyone. It encourages participants to bike to work\, school\, or anywhere. Participants can pedal to one of 100 pit stops across the region to pick up a free commemorative Bike Anywhere Day 2025 t-shirt\, while supplies last. \nUse the SANDAG Bike Anywhere Day 2025 Pit Stop Map to help plan your route for the annual event on Thursday\, May 15\, from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. \nIn 2024\, participants made more than 9\,000 visits to pit stops across the San Diego region. \nParticipants who register will receive a free t-shirt at a Bike Anywhere Day Pit stop on May 15. They will also be offered fun and engaging opportunities to take breaks with refreshments and snacks\, while supplies last. Pit stop hosts include community organizations\, local businesses\, healthcare providers\, schools\, government agencies\, and event sponsors. \nThis year\, eligible participants who register in advance will be automatically entered into the Bike Anywhere Day Sweepstakes for a chance to win one of three e-bikes\, powered by Rad Power Bikes. \nOn Bike Anywhere Day\, riders can explore more than 1\,800 miles of bikeways throughout the region\, from Oceanside to El Cajon and Tijuana. SUMMARY:2025 Preservation Symposium: Historic Places with Elsa Sevilla
DESCRIPTION:May is National Preservation Month\, and Coronado is joining communities nationwide in celebrating our unique heritage! We’re fortunate to have so many meaningful historic places\, and we’ll be highlighting them throughout the month. Our celebrations include a City Council Proclamation\, the presentation of plaques to recently designated historic homes\, and the beloved Historic Home Tour on Mother’s Day\, May 11. \nThe celebrations will culminate in the annual Preservation Symposium on Thursday\, May 15 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. The program will include a reception starting at 5:30 pm followed by the presentations at 6 pm. \nJoin Coronado MainStreet\, the Historical Association\, and the City of Coronado for the Preservation Symposium sponsored by the Coronado Community Foundation as we champion preservation in our community. This year’s speakers include a City Planner who will outline the City’s approach to historic preservation\, as well as keynote speaker Elsa Sevilla\, host of KPBS’s Historic Places. Elsa will share how she approaches her work incorporating history into entertaining media. In the latest from the series\, Elsa steps inside the legendary Hotel del Coronado\, a National Historic Monument\, as it undergoes a stunning transformation.
