SUMMARY:Citizen Science Project: Snapshot Cal Coast BioBlitz
DESCRIPTION:Help document California’s incredible coastal biodiversity and take part in this year’s Snapshot Cal Coast with a BioBlitz! Library staff will teach you how to use iNaturalist to make observations of the plants and animals you see at the beach. \nSnapshot Cal Coast is an annual California statewide community science effort that encourages people to make and share observations of plants\, animals\, and seaweeds along the California coast using the iNaturalist app. Led by the California Academy of Sciences with support from the California Ocean Protection Council\, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife\, and the MPA (Marine Protected Area) Collaborative Network\, and an array of other partners\, we are creating a valuable snapshot in time of where species are located along our coast. \nMake sure to download the free iNaturalist app and bring your device to participate! Look for the Library’s green pop-up near the main lifeguard tower. We will have specimens from the San Diego Natural History Museum for folks to view! \n  \n

SUMMARY:Farmers' Market at Ferry Landing Every Tuesday
DESCRIPTION:Fresh produce\, locally-grown\, right off the farmers’ trucks \nCoronado Farmers’ Market is one of the longest running farmers’ markets in San Diego County. Farmers come from all over San Diego County to sell their fresh produce at the Coronado market. Find us at First and B on Tuesday afternoons. \nGet regular updates on what’s in season at the Coronado Farmers’ Market Facebook page. \nSan Diego County has over 6\,600 farms\, more than any other county in the United States! San Diego County also has the largest community of organic growers in the state and the nation – over 374 farms growing more than 175 organic crops. Farmers Markets are certified by the County Agricultural Commissioner\, ensuring that the produce is being sold by the grower\, is grown in California and meets all California quality standards. These criteria ensure that you receive the freshest produce for the right price. Farmers are supported by the Farm Bureau of San Diego County.
