SUMMARY:San Diego Shakespeare Society Presents: Shakespeare Authorship Forum
DESCRIPTION:For hundreds of years people have questioned whether William Shakespeare of Stratford-upon-Avon actually wrote the plays and sonnets credited under his name\, in view of his limited education and experience. Mark Twain\, Walt Whitman\, Sigmund Freud\, and Malcom X\, to name a few\, have expressed such doubts. \nThe audience will watch a 30-minute documentary\, “Last Will & Testament\,” which provides an overview of the question and viewpoints both from the so-called “Orthodox” school and from the doubters. The film will be followed by a discussion\, led by a moderator from the San Diego Shakespeare Society\, of all points of view on the topic. \nThe event will include a Zoom appearance by Cheryl Eagan-Donovan\, a noted documentary filmmaker\, who will argue in favor of a leading author candidate\, Edward de Vere\, Earl of Oxford\, a highly educated nobleman in the court of Queen Elizabeth\, who traveled extensively in Italy where so many of the plays take place. \nThis is a hybrid event\, meaning it will take place in-person\, but people can also watch and participate from elsewhere via Zoom. To do so\, please register using the link below\, and you will receive the Zoom link shortly before the event.  \nhttps://www.eventbrite.com/e/shakespeare-authorship-forum-in-person-coronado-library-and-via-zoom-tickets-338793700077?aff=odeimcmailchimp&mc_cid=0260f261e6&mc_eid=311eb1849a \n

SUMMARY:UFC Fighter Tim Kennedy in Person - "Scars and Stripes"
DESCRIPTION:Decorated Green Beret sniper and UFC headliner Tim Kennedy will be at the Coronado Public Library on Monday\, June 27 at 7 pm to discuss and sign his new book Scars and Stripes. This inspirational memoir offers lessons on how to unlock the best version of yourself\, from someone who knows that failure is just one step toward success. \nThrough vivid\, wild anecdotes – such as saying he only feels alive right before he’s about to die – Kennedy reveals all the dumb\, violent\, embarrassing\, and undeniably heroic things he’s done in his life\, including multiple combat missions in Afghanistan\, building a school in Texas for elementary kids\, and creating two multimillion-dollar businesses. He has learned that failure isn’t the end – rather\, it’s the first step toward unearthing the best version of yourself and finding success\, no matter how overwhelming the setbacks may feel. \nOriginally from Atascadero\, California\, Kennedy joined the Army in 2004. After completing Ranger School he was assigned to the 7th Special Forces Group and was deployed on multiple combat missions in Afghanistan and Iraq as a sniper\, sniper instructor\, and principal combatives instructor. While in the Army\, he also honed his mixed martial arts fighting skills\, which he had originally developed at ‘The Pit’ in Atascadero. He returned to mixed martial arts in 2009 at Strikeforce Challengers and in January 2013 was brought over to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). While now retired from fighting\, his professional fighting record has him with just six losses in twenty-four matches. Today\, Kennedy is the founder and head of Apogee Cedar Park: an Acton Academy school in Austin\, Texas. He is also co-owner of Ranger Up and the CEO of Sheepdog Response. \nFor more information\, head to cplevents.org. This program is free and seating is general-admission; however\, if you would like to pre-order a book and receive priority seating\, please call Warwicks at 858-454-0347.
