SUMMARY:Darkroomers: Where We Wander exhibit opening reception
DESCRIPTION:Where We Wander is a collection of photographs created by members of the Darkroomers Photographic Club\, captured both close to home and around the world. \n \nTogether\, these images reflect the many ways we move through and observe the world around us. Some photographs come from distant places. Others were made in familiar neighborhoods\, quiet corners\, or everyday spaces. What connects them is the photographer’s attention to the moment. \nWherever we wander\, we are looking closely. We are noticing light\, place\, people\, details\, and stories. This exhibition celebrates the act of slowing down\, seeing with intention\, and appreciating the world through photography. \nAbout Darkroomers: The Darkroomers Photo Club (DRPC) is a photography club with a strong emphasis on printing photographs\, thoughtful critiques\, and creative growth. Quarterly photo challenges\, interclub competition\, photo field trips\, workshops\, and friendly camaraderie are the hallmark of the club. \nWe are a member of the Southern California Association of Camera Clubs (SCACC). The Darkroomers club meets monthly at the Photographic Arts Building in Balboa Park adjacent to Spanish Village. These meetings are held on the 1st\, 3rd\, and sometimes a 5th Wednesday of the month. Social hour begins at 6pm and the meeting begins at 7pm. \nThe club holds quarterly challenges and annual interclub competitions with members of other SCACC member clubs. Workshops are held at least once a quarter by one of the club members\, on a variety of topics such as: photo processing\, camera techniques\, and experimenting with creative photography. SUMMARY:FILM FORUM CORONADO: "All the King's Men"
DESCRIPTION:Coronado Public Library\, in partnership with the Coronado Island Film Festival\, presents FILM FORUM CORONADO\, taking place the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the library’s Winn Room. Film expert Ralph DeLauro provides a brief introduction to each film and leads a discussion afterwards\, often including pointers about how lighting or camera angles contribute to a scene’s mood or propel the story. \n \nAugust 19: All the King’s Men (1949\, PG-13\, 110 min) \nHe might have been a pretty good guy… If power… And women… Hadn’t gone to his head. This barbed and pungent indictment of political chicanery chronicles the rise and fall of a bull-headed\, backwoods lawyer and political demagogue Broderick Crawford (Academy Award)\, Mercedes McCambridge (Academy Award)\, John Ireland and Joanne Dru star.
