SUMMARY:The Green of West Plaza: 90+ Years of the Coronado Lawn Bowling Club
DESCRIPTION:On view through September 13 \nThe Green of West Plaza: 90+ Years of The Coronado Lawn Bowling Club celebrates over 90 years of the Coronado Lawn Bowling Club (CLBC) with an emphasis on its history\, community involvement\, and contribution to the sport of lawn bowling. The bilingual English/Spanish exhibit features trophies and medals won by members of the CLBC\, highlighting the skill and sportsmanship that women and men have excelled at both on a national and international level. \nTo complement the successes of the club\, the exhibit explains the game of lawn bowls along with the equipment used. Very little equipment is necessary to play bowls\, making it an accessible sport for all demographics. Lawn bowling is one of the few sports that allows women and men to compete together on an equal platform regardless of age. \n

SUMMARY:Community Salute
DESCRIPTION:  \nCelebrate community\, history\, art\, and patriotism with the Coronado Historical Association and the Coronado Community Foundation. \nJoin us for a festive evening reception honoring America250 and celebrating CHA’s Flag Mural Project. Enjoy inspiring patriotic music performed by Westwind Brass while mingling with friends and neighbors over complimentary drinks and light bites. \nCHA’s Flag Mural Project was funded through the Coronado Community Foundation’s Fall 2025 Arts & Culture Grant Program\, which invested in projects that celebrate creativity\, inspire learning\, and strengthen Coronado’s cultural landscape. Composed of over 200 hand-painted tiles created by Coronado residents\, the mural represents a wide range of backgrounds\, experiences\, and organizations\, and celebrates the many individuals and groups that contribute to community life. Participants included many local organizations as well as individual residents and community leaders\, including representatives of local government\, the military\, civic organizations\, public safety\, education\, and faith-based communities. Together the tiles form a visual representation of the values of America as well as the relationships and shared experiences that make Coronado unique. The mural also reflects a central theme of both the exhibit and the broader America250 commemoration: history is not only something we inherit but something we continue to create. \nCome raise a glass as we salute our nation’s past and celebrate our shared community. All are welcome and admission is free. \n\n \nAbout the Coronado Community Foundation \nSince 2021\, Coronado Community Foundation has been working to address unmet needs in the Coronado community by partnering with nonprofits\, city government\, organizations\, and individuals. Their initiatives and grants strengthen the community as well as build capacity and capability in partner nonprofit organizations. Learn more at ccfcoronado.org. \n\n \nAbout Westwind Brass \nWestwind Brass is a professional brass chamber ensemble in residence at San Diego State University\, celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2026. Since 1986\, the ensemble has brought high-caliber brass chamber music to audiences across San Diego through free public concerts\, school and youth outreach\, and veteran and community programming. \nFor this performance\, audiences can expect a lively\, accessible program that draws on the classical brass chamber repertoire alongside jazz- and Latin-influenced arrangements and popular tunes reimagined for brass — the kind of mix that appeals to longtime concertgoers and first-time listeners alike.  All performing musicians are professional members of the American Federation of Musicians (AFM) Local 325\, San Diego’s musicians’ union\, reflecting Westwind Brass’s commitment to fair labor standards and to the professional music community that sustains San Diego’s cultural life.
