DESCRIPTION:On view through September 13 \nThe Green of West Plaza: 90+ Years of The Coronado Lawn Bowling Club celebrates over 90 years of the Coronado Lawn Bowling Club (CLBC) with an emphasis on its history\, community involvement\, and contribution to the sport of lawn bowling. The bilingual English/Spanish exhibit features trophies and medals won by members of the CLBC\, highlighting the skill and sportsmanship that women and men have excelled at both on a national and international level. \nTo complement the successes of the club\, the exhibit explains the game of lawn bowls along with the equipment used. Very little equipment is necessary to play bowls\, making it an accessible sport for all demographics. Lawn bowling is one of the few sports that allows women and men to compete together on an equal platform regardless of age. \n

The Coronado Public Library\, in collaboration with the Silver Strand Youth Center\, will be hosting exciting events for all ages every Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. all summer long. Kids\, teens\, and adults can sign up for our Summer Reading Program at these events\, log their reads\, and pick up their prizes while enjoying a different fun-filled event each week. These events will take place outside\, so pack your sunscreen and a blanket to sit on and enjoy. Please note that public restrooms are not available at this location. \nThis program is made possible thanks to the support of the Friends of the Coronado Public Library and the City of Coronado. \n\nOn Wednesday\, July 22\, get ready to walk on the wild side as Wild Wonders presents Our Big Backyard. This program focuses on native North American animals\, featuring many from our own beautiful country\, with an “at home” conservation theme. You’ll learn about our animal friends and some up close animal encounters.

A person is missing\, or a truth\, or memory; some rooms are enticing\, some unmoored\, others empty. But in Samanta Schweblin’s tense\, visionary tales\, something always creeps back inside: a ghost\, a fight\, trespassers\, a list of things to do before you die\, a child’s first encounter with darkness or the fallibility of parents. \nIn each story\, twists and turns will unnerve and surprise: Schweblin never takes the expected path and instead digs under the skin\, revealing surreal truths about our sense of home\, of belonging\, and of the fragility of our connections with others.
