Hometown Jamboree to Kick Off Coronado Community Read
February 23 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Join us to kick off the 2019 Coronado Community Read with a Hometown Jamboree.
Play 1930s games and activities in partnership with the Coronado Recreation Department. All ages can enter a pie baking contest!* Everyone is invited to bake a pie and compete for ribbons. View quilts and handiwork created in the 1930s, see the Scottish Dancers perform – learn a few steps if you dare! Silhouettes, Face Painting, Games, Yo-Yos, and more. Listen to the strolling Barbershop Quartet. Take your picture in the photo booth. Make a craft.
Rules and entry form for the Pie Baking Contest can be picked up at the library.
Lots of Fun for the whole family. Read the book, and join the fun.
* This year’s book is set in 1930s Fallbrook and Kansas, and two of the main characters work as Harvey Girls, which means they serve huge helpings of pie to travelers passing through the restaurants Fred Harvey established at railway stops all over the west, including Emporia, Kansas.
Old Fashioned Family Fun! Complete information is available at the Coronado Library.
The Coronado Community read is made possible by the Friends of the Coronado Public Library and the Coronado Cultural Arts Commission and in partnership with the Coronado Historical Association, Coronado High School, the Coronado Recreation Department, Coronado Playhouse, and Sharp Coronado Hospital.
