On Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at 6pm, the City of Coronado Community Center’s ever-popular Armchair Travel Program travels to The Old City of Jerusalem. The Old City is a 0.9 square kilometer walled area within the modern city of Jerusalem. It is home to several sites of key religious importance including the Temple Mount and Western Wall for Jews; the Church of the Holy Sepulchre for Christians; and the Dome of the Rock and al-Aqsa Mosque for Muslims. It was added to the UNESCO World Heritage Site List in 1981.
Join Coronado resident Art Wilcox as he shares a photographic tour of the Old City, giving a perspective and understanding of the layout, exploring sites which have been visited by Christian pilgrims for nearly two thousand years, and examining the changes which have occurred in the Old City from Biblical times to the present. The presentation is perfect for anyone who has visited Jerusalem as well as for those who are considering a trip there.
This Armchair Travel event will be held in the Nautilus Room of the City of Coronado Community Center, 1845 Strand Way. Refreshments will be served from 6:00-6:30 P.M., followed by the speaker’s presentation. This is a wonderful opportunity for community members and visitors to meet old friends and make new acquaintances with whom they share a common interest in travel. The entry fee is just $5. Be sure to beat the crowd and get your VIP entry by REGISTERING BEFORE THE EVENT!
