Help us restore native vegetation and habitats for birds and other wildlife at Grand Caribe Shoreline Park in Coronado. This public park will benefit from our work to replace invasive species with native plants, providing better habitat and improving our park. This is an important location on the Pacific Flyway for migratory birds. Come volunteer and help restore the park, get outdoors, and meet new friends.
On behalf of San Diego Audubon, a big thank you for participating in the March 16 restoration event at Grand Caribe in Coronado.
Thanks to all of your hard work we are one step closer to planting native coastal sage scrub plants at this public park, improving habitat for birds and other wildlife, and making the area a better representation of a native San Diego coastal landscape. We also removed over 120 pounds of non-native Sahara mustard from Emory Cove, allowing the coastal sage scrub plants that we installed at this site to continue to thrive. It looks great out there, and it is a good example of the type of vegetation that we are hoping to plant at Grand Caribe.
We are continuing our efforts on Sunday, March 24th, when we return to Grand Caribe in order to plant natives in the areas that we cleared last weekend. And we need your help!
The work party will run from 9:30 am – 12:30 pm, and we will provide all of the needed tools as well as water, snacks and sunscreen. If you are interested in participating please respond to email@example.com to let us know that you are coming.
Thanks again for your dedication to San Diego’s wildlife, and hope to see you at another work party soon!
