Hotel Marisol Coronado Celebrates Its Second Anniversary

August marked the second anniversary of the opening of the Hotel Marisol Coronado.  The building located at 1017 Park Place, which previously operated under the Village Inn name, underwent a complete transformation at the hand of the new owner, Ann Keyser.

The hotel had been welcoming guests since 1927 but was badly in need of a make over.  It was a perfect project for Keyser, a local real estate investor who loves reviving Coronado historic buildings.

“I could see such great possibilities in the wonderful bones of the building.  Since it is situated between Orange Avenue and Coronado Beach, I knew guests would love the location,” said Keyser.  After a nine-month renovation in 2014, the hotel opened with fifteen sleek and sophisticated guest rooms and a totally redesigned garden courtyard.

From the day it opened, the hotel has received great guest reviews.  Keyser attributes much of that to the services they offer.  She drew from local businesses to provide the small touches that make a big difference.  Complimentary continental breakfasts at the Marisol include the freshest baked pastries from Villa Nueva.  Coronado Taste of Oils provides olives, dates, and oils for the hotel’s Friday Wine Down reception.  These are paired with fresh baguettes and a variety of wines.

Perhaps the favorite amenity mentioned by guests is the free loaner bicycle service. Holland’s Bicycles provided the starter fleet and continues to support the hotel with repairs and replacement of bikes.  Less than half of the guests bring personal cars to the hotel, preferring to enjoy Coronado via bikes or on foot.  If airport transportation is needed, the hotel recommends locally owned Q Star Charters.

The Hotel Marisol draws guests from all over the world, but its repeat customers are usually visiting family in Coronado.  In fact, one such guest has stayed at the hotel over fifty nights in the last two years.  She loves the Marisol where she knows all the staff members and never misses a Friday Wine Down when she can make new friends.

The Hotel Marisol’s fifteen guest rooms feature first class amenities such as lightening fast WiFi, fine Italian linens, whisper quiet air conditioning, small refrigerators stocked with free bottled water, and in room Keurig coffee brewers.  For more information, visit their website at www.MarisolCoronado.com.
